Franklin Jonas & The Byzantines Take the First of Many Headlining Run

An Inlander feature catches the band mid-tour, playing an unreleased album for rooms that showed up first.

Franklin Jonas & The Byzantines are in the middle of their first headlining run, the First of Many tour, and a new Inlander feature frames what the project is actually about: Americana songwriting, a band built the hard way, and nights where the unreleased album gets played front to back for the people in the room.

Jonas told the paper he once nearly quit music entirely, then stayed in Nashville after a writing room with Ruston Kelly redirected him. The Byzantines lineup grew from busked Jonas Brothers openers into a full band now headlining its own dates.

Four songs are out so far, including “High and Sad,” while the full album waits on timing the band isn’t rushing in public.
