Rhett Akins receives the 2025 NMPA Non-Performing Songwriter Icon Award

The NMPA recognized Rhett with its highest honor for non-performing songwriters.

Rhett Akins received the 2025 NMPA Non-Performing Songwriter Icon Award, the National Music Publishers' Association's highest honor recognizing the career-long contribution of a songwriter who has shaped popular music from behind the scenes.

A member of The Peach Pickers and a Jonas Group Publishing writer, Akins has more than thirty #1 singles to his credit and remains one of the most consistently cut writers in country music.

"Rhett is the embodiment of what this catalog stands for — songs that endure and writers who put the craft first," said Leslie DiPiero, President of Jonas Group Publishing.
