Hunter Hawkins Finds the Groove on Kenny Loggins-Produced Single “Julian”

A groove-driven single recorded live in Los Angeles with an all-star band previews Hunter Hawkins’ forthcoming 2027 debut album AWAKE.

Hunter Hawkins has released “Julian,” a groove-driven single produced by Kenny Loggins that previews Hawkins’ forthcoming 2027 debut album AWAKE.

Written after meeting a fellow artist and songwriter in Hawaii, “Julian” was originally recorded for an earlier EP. Hawkins and Loggins revisited the song for AWAKE, recording it live in Los Angeles with session greats Herman Matthews, Everette Harp, Freddie Washington and Kevin Ricard, folding saxophone, bass and percussion into an R&B- and soul-influenced sound.

“The saxophone, bass and percussion make me feel like I’m back in Hawaii, discovering myself as an independent person,” Hawkins said.
